Zairmail, Inc. Appoints Michael Coughlin and Bill Paxton to Board of Directors

PORTLAND, Ore. - Sept. 27, 2000 -- Zairmail, Inc., the first company to facilitate the convergence between the Internet and postal mail, today announced the appointment of Michael Coughlin, former Deputy Postmaster General, and Bill Paxon, former Congressional representative, to its Board of Directors. Coughlin and Paxon bring a wealth of hands-on experience working with postal mail and using it as a broad-based communications vehicle.

"Both Paxon and Coughlin will play integral roles in defining Zairmail’s strategic direction and business alliances,” said Wilson Zehr, CEO of Zairmail. “Each board member delivers unparalleled expertise in their respective fields of postal services and politics."

Michael Coughlin served almost 13 years as the Deputy Postmaster General and a member of the US Postal Service Board of Governors. In that role he helped direct the strategy and operations of the world’s largest postal system, implementing their massive letter-mail automation program, achieving dramatic service quality improvements and record-breaking financial success.

"The Zairmail business model brings a whole new range of options to direct marketers and new levels of efficiency to the postal system. It truly does combine the power, flexibility and rich content of the Internet with the ubiquity and effectiveness of print communications and postal delivery," said Coughlin. "More importantly, it is an equalizer; for the first time, small as well as large organizations can conduct direct mail campaigns on any scale that they need."

As chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, Bill Paxon played an imperative role in electing and re-electing House Republican majorities. Termed by the respected Almanac of American Politics as "a triumphant national leader" and "one of the party’s best political brains" as well as "best natural politician," Paxon was an active member of Congress for 10 years from 1988 to 1998. His political career began at the age of 23 when he was elected to the first three terms in the Erie County Legislature and subsequently served three terms in the New York State Assembly.
