Zairmail Donates Proceeds From Holiday Greetings to Foundation

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 28, 2000--Zairmail, Inc., the first company to facilitate the convergence between the Internet and postal mail on a large scale, today announced a new partnership with Toys For Tots in conjunction with Zairmail's holiday greetings letter promotion.

Beginning today, Zairmail will donate $ .50 to Toys For Tots for every consumer that registers with Zairmail-- through January 2, 2001.

Zairmail (http://www.zairmail.com) is an easy, quick and inexpensive way for consumers worldwide to send all of their personalized holiday letters to friends and family anywhere in the United States through the U.S. Postal Service. Senders have the option of choosing from six different holiday stationery themes. Included with their letter and envelope is a holiday greeting card.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for Zairmail and Toys For Tots to help children in need during the holiday season. Zairmail offers consumers an easy, convenient and meaningful way to reach out to loved ones with a personal letter. Now these consumers can brighten the season for a disadvantaged child at the same time they are touching the hearts of their family and friends. What could be better than that?'' said Wilson Zehr, CEO of Zairmail.

Designed to save online users time and money while still providing the personalized touch of printed mail, Zairmail has taken Internet technology and created one of the industry's most effective and innovative communications tools.

Leveraging the speed and ease of the Internet with the reliability of the postal service, Zairmail creates an opportunity for letter writers to send postal letters throughout the U.S. by using the Internet.

It's as easy as logging on to www.zairmail.com, composing your holiday letter online and pressing send. The letter is then printed at the Zairmail facility closest to the destination, addressed and inserted into an envelope along with a holiday card. The U.S. Postal Service then distributes the letter by first-class mail for rapid delivery -- overnight in supported markets.

Holiday letters can be sent for free if the sender chooses to include useful product information from advertisers. These offers are selected in part by the sender to ensure the maximum value for the recipient.

If a sender prefers not to include a customized ad page, each letter will cost $.50 including the holiday card.

"Toys For Tots is excited to have Zairmail partner with us as we strive to continue our 52-year legacy as the nation's most recognized charitable endeavor for children in need during the holidays,'' said the foundation's Vice President Bill Grein, Major, USMC (Ret.). "Last year, Marines and volunteers distributed more than 13 million toys for almost six million children in more than 340 communities around the nation. Zairmail is a force-multiplier; through Zairmail, we're now able to more personally attract a greater pool of worldwide contributors and the best part is the contributor, for under a dollar, is bringing a smile to both their relatives or friends faces and the faces of America's children."

About Toys for Tots™

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity, independent of the Marine Corps, provides the funding and support needed for successful annual toy collection and distribution campaigns. The Toys For Tots Program is directed by the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve.

Local Toys For Tots campaigns are conducted in over 300 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. One individual, either a Marine Reservist, member of a Marine Corps League Detachment, or member of a local community organization, is designated the Coordinator for each community.

This Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and conducting the campaign in his/her community.

Local campaigns begin in October and last until December 22. Members of the community drop off new, unwrapped toys in collection boxes positioned at local businesses. Coordinators pick up these toys and store them in a central warehouse where the toys are sorted by age and gender.

At Christmas, Coordinators, with the assistance of local social welfare agencies, church groups, and other local community agencies distribute toys to the neediest children of the community.
